This was my first time flying to Saskatoon, and I had heard lots of very nice things about the city, so I was actually very excited!
Route map:
Outside YYC departures. It hadn’t started snowing yet, although it would very soon…
Check-in was very empty
Executive check-in
Security was quick, just like check-in, and I was off to my first lounge of the trip…
Calgary Maple Leaf Lounge Domestic/International:
Construction on the adjacent gate
Upon entering the lounge, I noticed that the flight was departing from A05. A1-10 are only used by props, so I went to check with the lounge agent, and it turned out that our flight had been downgraded from a CRJ to a Dash 8. Not particularly happy, but it could be worse!
Then I went down to the departure gates for the prop flights, downstairs, where lots of flights were leaving.
A screen having some technical problems
My flight – which ended up being delayed by +/- an hour
The only thing downstairs – luckily one can just take the escalator to get back upstairs where there is the lounge and other food outlets
The escalator
Boarding was quick, with priority for everybody (*G/E/SE/young children etc.) and I was walking down the tunnel towards the aircraft quite soon!
This person turned out to be a fellow Super Elite as well as somebody who was going to the same event as we were! We both didn’t know we would be on the same flight… How funny!
Our aircraft
Upon noticing that I was taking pictures of an aircraft, a ramp agent asked if I would like a picture with it as well. I politely declined, but this was a true show of Canadian spirit!
It just starting snowing/raining
The backwards-facing seats opposite us
Nobody here yet!
And we taxied off to my first deicing of the season!
During de-icing the cockpit door was open. Unluckily a guy moved into one of the seats opposite us.
The snow
Approach into YXE
We flew right over the city!
Our aircraft upon landing
After disembarking
Notice the dents/scratches/missing paint on the ‘ADA’ part of the livery…
After we had arrived, my mom went to the washroom and I took a look around the airport, since we would be departing early in the morning.
Some FIDs
Lower-level departures
Security
Escalator to upper-lever departures
The baggage claim
The bags were out already when we got there!
A final look at arrivals/landside
A quick ride to the city and we were checked-in at the Sheraton!
