Before I post some pictures of Tokyo, I have a funny story to tell. My mom wasn’t happy with the temperature in our hotel room, night one, and so she tells me to call the reception and fix it. Reluctantly, I do, and they say ‘no problem, we fix’. Indeed, the problem was rectified. Night two, same problem. I call the reception desk, and they say that it is not possible. What? “The temperature outside is colder than inside, so we need to keep hotel warm. Please turn off your system and cold air will come in through windows.” OK… We do as they say. Half an hour later, when I’m on the verge of falling asleep, my mom says that it’s still too hot. I say that I’m not gonna call, as I already did. She calls, and asks what solutions they have. “We have fan for you. One moment please…….. Sorry, no fans left.” Here my mom gets furious. Indeed, they were contradicting themselves, why don’t they have any fans if they need to keep the hotel warm? It seems then that lots of people need to cool down! “Please hold, madam, I go and check what I can do.” After three minutes or so on hold, my mom just hangs up. 10 minutes later, when I am once again on the verge of falling asleep, the phone rings. I say – you pick it up! They say “We have solution. Japanese-style suite, largest room in hotel, has separate temperature control. We come and take you there now.” Indeed two minutes later, the man was at our door and took us to the suite. The one thing my mom hadn’t though about, however, is that Japanese-style means practically sleeping on the floor. Payback!

Actually, afterwards, I asked my mom if she can always yell at the hotel staff. Upgrades are good!

Quite a different city, and I hope that I’ll be able to return soon!
